misunderstandings between the adults and the young could be a result of the different mindsets of the different age group. for example, a youth action of playing the computer game could be seen by the adult as a act due to lack of critical thinking skills as they might think that playing such games is inbenefitual to the student hence is a waste of time. however, the student may know that playing computer game is in fact a waste of time but it is one of the only outlet they have to have some entertainment or vent their frustration towards certain things. therefore they continue to 'waste' their time on things like playing computer games. this is what the adults never thought of, as the adults normally see youth to have a immature mind and is free of troubles.resulting in this misunderstanding.
this is probably the last part of this discussion... the coming weekend should give me ample time to think of the next issue to consider.

continue from the previous posting...
according to the web definition,Critical Thinking consists of mental processes of discernment, analysis and evaluation.as such, by saying that the young of today lack of critical thinking skills means that the youths are incapable of analysing data and evaluate a conclusion from the data available. But the question is, is it really true or is there some misunderstanding that led to this conclusion?
the adult's main arguement would be that there are multiple cases involving youth imitating the actions they see on the news or from the internet. one example would be the case where students try to produce bombs from household items upon following the bomb making instructions that were availble on the internet.this action shows that they do not think if there is a need to do the things they did or consider the consequences brought about by their actions. they were drove by the curiosity to try out things that seem interesting or new to them.

youth- from secondary 1 to jc/poly
does the youth of today lack critical thinking skills?
it's true that a portion of singapore youth could not tell right from wrong. this could be seen from the fact that they take in information on the internet without digesting them or investigate their creditbility.as such, they are often misled.
just what is critical thinking skills? just being able to tell right from wrong?if that's so,it's not just the youth of today that lacks it. even the adults who proclaim that the youths lack the skills do not have it, so do they really have the right to say the youth do not have the skills?
from the crimes that's happening around the world, one could easily see that adults are committing crimes too.if they are committing crimes and doing the wrong things, they can't be capable of differeciate right from wrong.
one may say that that's only one portion of the adults who do not have the skills, not all so it should not be used as evidence that adults could not tell right from wrong either.it will be overly general. However this is what the adults or the professionals are doing as of now, terming the small portion of young people who lack the critical thinking skills as youth. isn't this discrimination toward all students? so what's the difference?

another day at school...
had a boring lunar new year as always...
hate to come to school but still i'm here...
i hope the jae posting results comes out soon.i still don't feel like a student of this school so maybe that explains why i'm so reluctant to come to school.hmm... maybe it would be better if i buy the uniform.(doubt so... i think i just hate school)
even though the new year celebration passed uneventfully but at least i met my cousins whom i don't get to see very often.i like my cousin alot maybe we are alike in some ways or maybe because i always wanted a younger slibing and his the closest i can get to having a younger slibling since my parents is 100% not incline on having another children. so i better be satified with what i have.
i'm so happy today since i pass the geo test that i thought i'm going to fail very badly. though i didn't exactly done very well but a pass i more than what i wish for.
honestly, i'm starting to wonder if i'm cut out for studing.even though i didn't get terrible grades in my short study career, but i didn't do fantasically well either.is jc really for me???
on a side note, a new guy joined my class today. i hereby welcome him to 0811B, yeah!!!
not that he will see this, but it's the thought that counts isn't it?

another day closer to the lunar new year where the only good thing about it is that we don't have to go to school.
my family and i go to my grandma house every single year during new year and spend the entire day there doing nothing. absolutely nothing except watch shows after shows about chinese new year on the television. talk about a boring day...
any way, tomorrow will be the first time i'm going through a festival at this school. now, that's something to look forward to. i wonder how things are done in this school...
hopefully it isn' like my secondary school where the new year celebrations is organised by the same old person year after year resulting in us doing the exact same thing every year.4 years to be exact since i was there for 4 years.
that's all for now...
signing off... maybe i should go participate in the world math day thing... hmm... have a part in creating a world record. sounds nice...
